National Service Scheme (NSS)

The college has an active NSS unit under the aegis of the University of Calcutta which works under the supervision of a teacher especially designated for marshalling the NSS –related activities of the college

 i)    Outreach Activities 

• At regular intervals : involvement  of students in common activities like cleanliness drives
• Annual Programmes:  weeklong NSS Camps consisting of health camps, awareness programmes, free medical help rendered to the  poor slum dwellers, survey and cultural activities in slum areas
• Participation in marches on social causes and awareness drives organised by the university

 ii)    Collaboration

• Bengal Social Service League, an NGO, which works in slum areas, hosts and conducts  NSS Annual Camps and helps the NSS Unit organise all health-related programmes
• Maya Foundation, an NGO, which conducts awareness programmes in the college

 iii)   Achievements

• Best Supervisor award given to Prof. H.Zaman in 2013
• The Best Unit award in 2012-13 and the Best Volunteer award in 2014-15
